Aktualno dogajanje na področju mladinske politike v Sloveniji in mednarodno.
In Mladi forum SD we strongly condemn the recent brutal terrorist attack that occurred in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, and caused a senseless death of innocent people. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, our comrades from the Juventudes Socialistas de España and all the people of Spain.
Sadly, there is no doubt anymore that the fight against terrorism and fighting for peace will and has to become Europe’s number one priority. The world united in mourning is not enough. Condemning any criminal act against another human being is important, not just important, it is a must! But it is even more important for the western societies to take their part of the responsibility for the horrifying terrorist attacks that we are witnessing in recent years. Europe and the world simply have not done enough to prevent atrocities before happening. Understanding the cause of terrorist attacks is crucial in order to being able to prevent them and to effectively protect the civil society. It is necessary to improve capacities and exchange valuable information for successful fight against terrorism. What is needed the most in these challenging times is international collaboration among the most affected European countries, together with the United Nations (UN) and the countries of the third world. Terrorism is a global threat, and a global response is the only right and effective response.
Despite our religious, political, cultural, etc. differences, we all have something in common. We strive for peace. The only way to achieve peace is not through military actions, it is through spreading democracy and democratic values. Every open-minded individual, who strives for equality and justice, presents the deadliest weapon against terrorism. Just imagine what individuals like that can achieve, when they act together.
